Did You Know?  In 1862, Senator Jesse Bright (D-Indiana) was alleged to have sympathized with the Confederacy on the basis of a discovered letter in which Bright had written to Jefferson Davis, the President of the Confederacy, referring to an arms dealer.  While the Judiciary Committee voted that Bright retain his Senate seat, the full Senate voted by 32 to 14 to expel him. Senator Bright was the fifteenth and the last Senator to be expelled from the Senate.
