Senate Confirms Alison Nathan to Second Circuit Court of Appeals

Nathan marks the Senate's fifteenth Circuit Court Confirmation this Congress

WASHINGTON – Today, the U.S. Senate confirmed Alison Nathan’s nomination to serve on the Second Circuit Court of Appeals by a vote of 49-47.  U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL), Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, released the following statement regarding Judge Nathan’s confirmation:

“Judge Nathan is a highly qualified and evenhanded jurist.  For 10 years, before her elevation to the Second Circuit, she served with distinction on the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York—authoring over 1,500 opinions and presiding over 45 trials that went to verdict or judgement.  Her record of excellence and evenhandedness will serve her well on the Circuit Court.”
