House action follows Senate Judiciary Committee’s investigation into Clark’s efforts to help Trump overturn the 2020 election
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL), Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, today released the following statement in light of news that the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol will vote on a report recommending that the House of Representatives cite Jeffrey Clark for criminal contempt of Congress and refer him for prosecution:
“The information uncovered in the recent Senate Judiciary Committee majority staff report, Subverting Justice, revealed the extent to which Jeffrey Clark pressured Justice Department leaders to overturn the 2020 Presidential election. I am glad to see the House Select Committee act on our findings. While our House colleagues pursue recommendations for criminal contempt, the Senate Judiciary Committee will continue our investigation into DOJ’s role in Donald Trump’s election subversion scheme.”
