Feinstein Statement on Jeffrey Rosen

Washington—Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) today released the following statement on the nomination of Jeffrey Rosen as Deputy Attorney General:

“I voted against Jeffrey Rosen as Deputy Attorney General because he lacks the experience necessary for the role and has a troubling history of partisan activity.

“Rosen has never worked at the Justice Department, he has never served as a prosecutor and he hasn’t worked on a single criminal matter, ever. This isn’t a position where we can have someone learning on the job.

“The Justice Department has more than 100,000 employees and offices that cover issues as diverse as civil rights, criminal matters and the country’s federal prisons. The Deputy Attorney General essentially runs the day-to-day operations of this huge department, and Jeffrey Rosen simply doesn’t have the experience necessary.

“I think we can do better for the number two position at DOJ, and that’s why I opposed this nomination.”
