Senate Confirms Andre Mathis to Sixth Circuit

WASHINGTON – Today, the U.S. Senate confirmed Andre Mathis to the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL), Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, released the following statement regarding Mr. Mathis’s confirmation:

“Andre Mathis is a lifelong Tennessean—dedicating his life and career to his state and his community. Looking at his record of service and extensive experience as a litigator, it is no wonder Mr. Mathis enjoys support from Tennesseans across the political and ideological spectrum. In short, and looking at the totality of his career, Mr. Mathis has shown that he has the experience, temperament, and acumen to serve with distinction on the Sixth Circuit.”

In February, Mr. Mathis advanced out of the Judiciary Committee with a bipartisan vote of 12-10.
