Senate Judiciary Committee Advances Six Nominations to the Full Senate

WASHINGTON – Today, the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee advanced six nominations to the full Senate, continuing the Committee’s work to bring balance to the federal judiciary.

“Today, we continued our historic pursuit to confirm highly qualified, diverse judges. The nominations advanced today are symbolic of good faith collaboration between the White House and Republican Senators. I thank President Biden, along with Senators Lee, Romney, Fischer, Ricketts, Cornyn, Cruz, Barrasso, and Lummis, for their bipartisan commitment to filling these vacancies, and I look forward to the nominees’ swift confirmations,” said U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL), Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Under the leadership of Chair Durbin, the Senate has confirmed 181 judges to lifetime appointments on the federal bench during the Biden administration. Following the meeting, twelve lifetime judges – including three circuit court nominees and nine district court nominees – are eligible for a vote on the Senate floor.

The following nominations were reported by the indicated vote totals:

• Ann Marie McIff Allen, to be United States District Judge for the District of Utah: 21-0
• Susan M. Bazis, to be United States District Judge for the District of Nebraska: 18-3
• Ernest Gonzalez, to be United States District Judge for the Western District of Texas: 20-1
• Kelly Harrison Rankin, to be United States District Judge for the District of Wyoming: 20-1
• Leon Schydlower, to be United States District Judge for the Western District of Texas: 20-1
• Robin Michelle Meriweather, to be a Judge of the United States Court of Federal Claims: 12-9
