Graham: Amazon Alexa’s Political Bias Is Election Interference

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina), Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, sent a letter to Amazon regarding public reporting that the company’s Alexa technology answers political questions with clear bias.

According to a video obtained by media outlets, Amazon Alexa refused to answer questions about why someone should vote for President Donald Trump, but answered a similar question about Vice President Kamala Harris in detail.

Graham wrote, “There’s a widespread belief among conservatives that companies like yours have a distinct bias in favor of liberal causes. The reported shocking interaction between Alexa and users asking for information about why to vote for President Trump versus why to vote for Vice President Harris is, in many conservatives’ minds, exhibit A of the problem.”

He continued, “These radically different responses suggest that Amazon technology is interfering in the election in favor of one political candidate. The purpose of this letter is to put you on notice that I will not allow this to go unaddressed, and expect a prompt reply as to what happened here and what corrective actions will be taken in the future.
