WASHINGTON – Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) today made this statement on the nomination of Joseph Dawson to be a U.S. District Judge for the District of South Carolina. Mr. Dawson testified before the committee today during a hearing to consider his nomination.
“I’m very pleased to support the nomination of Mr. Dawson to be a federal district court judge for the state of South Carolina,” said Graham. “He has led a consequential life representing the people of Charleston during his time as county attorney. I think he is well prepared to serve on the court and as Senator Tim Scott noted in his introduction, he would be the only African American man serving as a federal judge in South Carolina. I look forward to working with Senator Scott to see this through. ”
