Grassley Comment on President Trump’s Intent to Nominate Christopher Wray to lead the FBI

WASHINGTON – Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley today made the following statement regarding President Trump’s announcement that he plans to nominate Christopher Wray to be the next director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

“Christopher Wray’s legal credentials and law enforcement background certainly make him a suitable candidate to lead the FBI. He was unanimously confirmed to lead the Justice Department’s Criminal Division, where he led a variety of investigations and prosecutions. In private practice, he has received accolades for his work on government investigations. If confirmed, this experience would serve him well at the helm of the FBI,” Grassley said.

“I’m grateful for the President’s thorough consultation throughout this process. The committee will begin consideration of his nomination once we receive it and the related materials, which may take a couple weeks.”
