Grassley Statement on Federal Injunction of Biden Admin Immigration Enforcement, Deportation Policy
WASHINGTON
– Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary
Committee, made the following comments on the injunction issued today by a
federal court in Texas against the Biden Administration’s policy severely restricting
Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers’ ability to enforce the law
through the arrest and deportation of illegal aliens.
“I’m
glad to see today’s ruling out of Texas enjoining the Biden Administration’s
dangerous and irresponsible immigration ‘enforcement and removal priorities.’
These policies were put in place specifically to limit ICE’s ability to arrest,
detain and deport illegal immigrants from the United States, including illegal
immigrants with criminal records. Judge Tipton correctly found that these
reckless policies were in clear violation of the immigration laws Congress has
passed to protect the American people and deter illegal immigration. As Ranking
Member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, I will continue to fight efforts by
the Biden Administration to undermine the enforcement of our nation’s
immigration laws.”
