Now twenty law enforcement organizations oppose Mangi
WASHINGTON – The largest police organization in California and the largest statewide public safety association in the nation is opposed to Adeel Abdullah Mangi’s nomination to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. The Peace Officers Research Association of California represents more than 80,000 professional public safety officers from more than 950 member organizations.
Mr. Mangi’s nomination is now opposed by twenty law enforcement organizations.
Peace Officers Research Association of California:
“The prospect of confirming Mr. Mangi to the second-highest court in the nation prompts severe apprehension concerning his lack of relevant judicial experience. It is also imperative to note Mr. Mangi’s position as an Advisory Board Member of the Alliance of Families for Justice, an organization that defends and advocates for the release of individuals convicted for murdering law enforcement officers.”
“Across the nation, peace officers dedicate and risk their lives every day to protect and serve communities. Federal Appeals Court judges must adhere to the principles of fairness, integrity, and ensuring impartiality as their decisions are a commitment to upholding the rule of law, protecting individual rights, and promoting justice for all including law enforcement officers.”
Mr. Mangi’s nomination is opposed by Democratic Senators Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nevada), Jacky Rosen (D-Nevada), and Joe Manchin (D-West Virginia), nineteen other law enforcement groups, several Jewish organizations, every Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, and ten Republican Members of Congress representing constituents in the Third Circuit.
